A postdoctoral position for a computational biologist is available in the Epigenomics and Transcriptional Regulation group within the Genomic Science Research Line at the Center for Genomic Science of Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in Milan, Italy (https://cgs.iit.it/research/epigenomics-and-transcriptional-regulation).
This group adopts an interdisciplinary approach based on cutting edge experimental and computational methods to investigate fundamental mechanisms in the epigenetic control of transcriptional regulation. In particular, we study the functional role of the rates of RNA synthesis, processing and degradation (RNA dynamics), and their epigenomic and epitranscriptional determinants, in physiological and disease conditions.
The selected candidate will lead a project to develop a computational method for the analysis of RNA dynamics based on direct sequencing data. This method will be used to study the impact of the MYC transcription factor on the dynamics of its target genes.
She/he will interact extensively with experimental and computational scientists within the group, and will take advantage of a broad network of collaborators (European Epitranscriptomic Network EPITRAN).
A strong quantitative background, with a PhD in physics, statistics, mathematics or engineering, is requested. Basic notions of biology, and previous experience in genomics are a major plus.
