The Humanoid Sensing and Perception Research Line at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) ( is  looking for a highly motivated post doc to join the team of researchers working on the iCub ( and R1 humanoid robots ( The focus of this project is the development of algorithms for autonomous navigation in known environments and human-robot interaction using vision and technologies for natural language processing. The project is carried out within the H2020 EU project 5G-TOURS ( and it involves field tests involving end-users in relevant environment.

The selected candidate will join the interdisciplinary team of the iCub project and will have the opportunity to work in an exciting and young environment in close interaction with research engineers, PhD students and post-doctoral researchers who are working on all aspects that concern the development of humanoid robots.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Robotics or equivalent and the following skills:

  • Strong motivation to work with real robotic systems;
  • Theoretical background and hands-on experience on robot perception, motion planning and navigation;
  • Good communication skills and ability to cooperate within a team;
  • Good knowledge of programming languages such as, C/C++, Java, Python;
  • Knowledge of C++ and development tools (e.g. CMake and GIT);
  • Knowledge of middleware for robotics (e.g. YARP, ROS).
