Postdoctoral position in “Computational approaches to investigate post-transcriptional mechanisms” - [ Postdoc ]

Workplace: Genova, IIT
Added on: 15/11/2019 - Expires on: 15/12/2019

The focus of the RNA Systems Biology Lab Research Line (activities starting in 2020) is to understand the role played by RNA molecules in protein networks. Characterizing protein-RNA associations is key to unravel the complexity and functionality of mammalian genomes and will open up therapeutic avenues for the treatment of a broad range of human disorders.  We aim to discover the involvement of RNA molecules in regulatory networks controlling protein production and we are interested in understanding mechanisms whose alteration lead to aberrant aggregation.  We have recently observed that interaction between proteins and mRNAs induce feedback loops that are crucial in protein homeostasis. We also found that specific proteins and RNAs phase separate in the cytosol and nucleus when their abundance is significantly high and we are investigating how large assemblies formation affects cell function.

We are looking for a post-doc in the area of Computational Biology. Main interests include the development of computational methods (e.g. algorithm development, machine learning, artificial intelligence) and the integration and modelling of experimental and clinical data (e.g. genomics, medical genetics).

The ideal candidate would have previous experience on RNA and protein biology, CLIP data analysis and algorithms for prediction of molecular interactions. A considerable plus would be that the candidate has worked on problems related to phase separation.

Professional requirements necessary to apply for the position:

- PhD in Bioinformatics, Biomedicine or Computational Biology;

- Previous experience on protein-RNA interactions and RNA biology;

Please submit your detailed CV with names of 2 referees to quoting “Postdoctoral position in Computational approaches to investigate post-transcriptional mechanisms CB 77757”.

Deadline is December 15, 2019.
