We are seeking a highly motivated fellow to join “Neuromodulation of Cortical and Subcortical Circuits” Research Line at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Genoa, Italy. The position is founded by the European Project COMORBIDITY MECHANISMS OF ANXIETY AND PARKINSON'S DISEASE (AND-PD), Grant Agreement n°848002.

Expertise in experimental paradigms for assessing motor and affective functions in murine models as well as proficiency in in-vivo stereotaxic techniques are important prerequisites. Previous experience in electrophysiology, immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy will be highly valued. Applicants are expected to possess excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Our lab focuses on the behaviorally-relevant synaptic and circuit adaptations at cortical and subcortical circuits in response to incentive stimuli and environmental stressors. This is instrumental to dissect the neurocircuitry of the pathophysiology of co-morbidities in psychomotor and affective disorders.

The successful candidate will apply a variety of experimental approaches that encompasses neurophysiological techniques (electrophysiology and imaging), viral-based approaches to deconstruct and manipulate neural circuits combined with optogenetic/chemogenetic approaches in-vivo pharmacology and behavioral analysis.

Students from all disciplines of life science, physics, medicine, pharmacy are welcome to apply. The interest to apply for a following PhD position will be positively evaluated.
