The Advanced Robotics Research Line (ADVR) of Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia is seeking a highly motivated, post-doc in the area of biomedical sensing systems for precision medical interventions. Application areas include computer/robot-assisted needle-based procedures such as injection, biopsy, and catheterization.
The position is part of a project that aims to research and develop novel technologies to improve the current state-of-the-art in precision needle-based procedures, bringing significant benefits to patients and clinicians. Specifically, this position will be dedicated to research towards novel biomedical sensors for such procedures, which will include investigating and developing new technologies to characterize tissue in real-time. Integration into computer/robot-assisted systems for precise medical interventions will be required to demonstrate suitability and assess performance enhancements.
We are looking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic engineer with experience on the design, development and assessment of sensing systems for disease diagnosis and/or therapy. The candidate should possess a PhD degree in engineering, robotics or related field and an excellent publication record.
The selected candidate will be integrated in a team and contribute both to the improvement of existing prototypes towards clinical trials and to creation of novel systems, being able to pursue his/her own creative ideas.
Experience in one or more of the following areas will be considered a plus: biomedical sensors, bioimpedance, mechatronics, medical robotics, clinical trials.
