IIT has established a collaboration with the Department of Environmental Sciences, Informatics and Statistics of Università Ca’ Foscari – Venezia and funds 1 scholarship linked to a PhD position available at the PhD Course in Computer Science, organized by Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia. Research and training activities are jointly conducted at the Center for Cultural Heritage Technology and the Università Ca’ Foscari. The aim of the collaboration is to develop Computer Vision/Machine learning methods for Cultural Heritage preservation and analysis.
The position offered focuses on the following research theme: Machine learning-supported Historical Document Analysis and Ancient Handwritten recognition.
The recipient of the scholarship will develop the project under the supervision of the Center Coordinator, Arianna Traviglia, in Venice, together with a supervisor at the Department of Environmental Sciences, Informatics and Statistics of the Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia.
The successful candidate will be part of an exciting and international working environment and will work in brand new laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation.
Excellent communication skills in English, as well as ability to interact effectively with members of the research team, are mandatory.
