The Center for Micro-BioRobotics (CMBR), a Network Center of IIT based in Pontedera, Pisa, is opening a Postdoctoral position in the areas of design, modelling and fabrication of “Soft robots inspired by plants and animals”.
The major objective is to investigate robotics solutions merging soft materials with bioinspired approaches. The final aim is to achieve self-growing, smartly actuated robots with sensing capabilitiesdrawing inspiration from plants and animals that are used as a design guideline in terms of material, structure and function (a widely addressed topic at the Center).
We are looking for a scientist with experience in the following areas:
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Biorobotics, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Biomechanics or a related field and a proven track record of high quality publications.
The successful candidate is creative and motivated and has excellent analytical and organizational skills.
He/she will be expected to: publish scholarly papers and attend international conferences; proactively perform research in a team of senior researchers, post-docs and PhD students; cooperate in various disciplines (e.g. engineering, biology and material science); be able to set-up, follow, monitor and be responsible for his/her own personal research plans and directions. Supervision of PhD and Master’s Degree students is also expected. Proficiency in written/spoken English is mandatory.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
