Applications are invited for a Post-doctoral position on biopolymers on a 12-month contract.
The Smart Materials Group of IIT possesses world class facilities and expertise for the development of new composite materials combining various polymers and changing their properties by introducing nanofillers or organic molecules in the matrices. We work on both the control of the chemistry and the structure of the materials we develop to achieve precise properties tailored for the needs of various application fields.
Close collaborations exist with industry, university departments, and other research centres in Italy and abroad.
The candidate will work on an industrially funded research project: the project will be based on the design, fabrication and development of new-generation bio-composites containing biopolymers originating from bacterial synthesis. The winning candidate will be expected to develop new processes and compounding methods to produce functional, intelligent and sustainable bio-composites that would have competitive physicochemical, optical, and electro-mechanical properties with respect to composites derived from petroleum-based polymers.
The research activity will take place in the Smart Materials Group, Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, which is located in Genoa.
Applicants must have a PhD degree in one of the following areas: Polymer Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Bioengineering or Materials Science.
Experience with polymer processing, compounding, polymer and composite testing and characterization is highly desired. Both junior and experienced (maximum 4 years of post-doctoral experience) candidates will be considered for the position.
Interested candidates should send their application documents (CV, list of publications and 2 reference letters) to email@example.com by 31/01/2017 quoting “Post Doc Smart Materials CB 73510“
Please note that this position is conditional upon signature of the relevant Agreement
