Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia – IIT is opening a research fellow position in the framework of the Future & Emerging Technologies flagship project on graphene and other 2d crystals, Graphene Flagship funded by the European Commission with Grant Agreement n. 696656 for the 2013-2023 period.
A fellow position is currently available to work in the context of Enabling Materials of the Graphene Flagship (graphene-flagship.eu) funded by the European Union under the umbrella of IIT Graphene Labs in strong collaboration with partners of the Graphene Flagship.
The candidate will work on the synthesis of atomic-thick transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) using a chemical vapour deposition (CVD) approach. The aim of the project is to develop a scalable synthetic approach that allows obtaining selected TMDs with homogenous thickness over a large scale. Particular focus will be put on the possibility of obtaining van der Waals heterostructures entirely by CVD. The synthetized materials will be studied by Raman spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM).
The selected candidate will join the group of Dr. Camilla Coletti at Center for Nanotechnology Innovation@NEST in Pisa 2D Materials Engineering.
Eligible applicants hold a Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, Material Science or equivalent. Previous experience with two-dimensional materials will be positively evaluated
The closing date for applications is April 13th, 2017 and applications, including CV and names of two referees should be sent to email@example.com quoting "Research fellow on synthesis of TMDs CB 73668" in the subject line.
IIT was established in 2003 and successfully created the large scale infrastructure in Genova, a network of 10 state of the art laboratories countrywide, recruited an international staff of about 1100 people from more than 50 countries. IIT's research endeavour focuses on high-tech and innovation, representing the forefront of technology with possible application from medicine to industry, computer science, robotics, life sciences and nanobiotechnologies.
