The IIT center at Ca' Foscari university in Venice - Center for Cultural Heritage Technology@CàFoscari (CCHT@CàFoscari) has the mission to research and promote new technologies and to extend existing techniques for preservation and analysis of the invaluable Cultural Heritage assets managed by cities, galleries, libraries, archives and museums across different fields of art.
These actions focus on interdisciplinary research on three core research areas - Digitization and Retrieval, Machine Learning and Protection - emerging in the cultural heritage domain. Heritage preservation will act at several levels involving different research fields with the aim to immortalize cultural heritage artefacts through Computer Vision and Machine Learning techniques in conjunction with newly developed coatings shielding the tangible assets from natural and human-generated decay.
The IIT Center@CàFoscari coordinator must be an internationally renowned young scientist, with extensive experience in cultural heritage studies and a strong attitude towards new technologies applied to the preservation and digitization of artifacts.
A crucial role will be to foster active collaboration with curators of the unique Venetian heritage and to secure external funding at European level or in collaboration with commercial partners.
Salary will be highly competitive and commensurate with qualification and experience.
