Electronic Design Laboratory (EDL), in cooperation with the Cognition Motion and Neuroscience (C’MON) Research Line of IIT, is searching for a highly motivated post-doc for research projects focused on low-power electronic systems development for cognition, motion and neuroscience interaction applications.
The position, strongly multidisciplinary, requires a Ph.D. preferentially in engineering, e.g., bioengineering, electronics or computer science and excellent knowledge in spoken and written English.
The scientific contribution will be focused, but not limited to, the intelligent elaboration and processing of cognitive data generated by full custom electronic systems, also during scientific experiments with commercial laboratory equipment. The technical contribution will regard hardware-aware software algorithms for general purpose PC, under both Linux and Windows and firmware algorithms for microprogrammed embedded systems (ARM, Microchip, ST, Texas Instruments), also using higher abstraction-level languages.

The applicant will need to demonstrate interest in increasing his knowledge and skills in the fields of software as well as hardware design, to enable an effective co-design. Besides the scientific activities normally required during a complete research & development (comprising state-of-the-art analysis and results publication), the design needs to go through a structured methodology to match the requirements of the Electronic Design Laboratory (software versioning, commercial CAD tools and consolidated design flows so that software solutions reach a high robustness level and technology transferability).
The position that we offer is a position in an interdisciplinary scientific environment in the context of an advanced research and development team, and specifically focused on cognition, motion and neuroscience topics, with the possibility of a continuous technical knowledge increase in strategic scientific topics like electronic design, programming and research on cognitive and neuronal mechanisms in human cognition, also based on experimental activity.
