Fellowship position in Synaptic Neuroscience - [ Fellow ]

Applications are invited for a fellowship position in the Synaptic Plasticity of Inhibitory Networks Research Line to study the mechanisms of GABAergic synaptic plasticity at the single molecule level.

Our aim is the understanding of  the mechanisms of inhibitory GABAergic short and long-term plasticity with particular interest on the role of lateral receptor lateral diffusion and the nanoscale organization of synaptic receptors and synaptic scaffolding proteins (Petrini et al., Nature Comm., 2014; Pennacchietti et al., J. Neurosci, 2017; de Luca et al., Neuron, 2017).

The successful candidate will combine electrophysiology with cutting edge techniques, including quantum dots-based single particle tracking, photolysis of “caged” neurotransmitter, epifluorescence and confocal quantitative imaging, super-resolution microscopy and optogenetics.

Eligible candidates should hold a master degree in biology, physics or engineering, and must have documented previous experience in synaptic neurophysiology or related disciplines. Good written and verbal English communication skills are also required.
