The Rehab Technologies Lab at IIT ( ) is seeking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic Biomedical Engineer with experience in the clinical evaluation of medical devices. The ideal candidates should possess a Biomedical Engineering degree and be able to interface with the clinical environment and have a proven track record of successful clinical evaluation of several electro-medical devices.

The successful candidates should have:

  • A good degree in Biomedical Engineering or closely related area.
  • Technical understanding of electro-medical devices.
  • A good working knowledge clinical evaluation practices.
  • Capability in the writing of clinical protocol.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of clinical environment.
  • Capability in the formulation of technical requirements and specifications.
  • Good knowledge of state-of-the-art Electro-Medical devices.
  • Familiarity with European Directives relevant to electrical, electronic and medical devices conformity (EMC, machine, low voltage and medical devices directives), and international (ISO, IEC) and/or Italian standards (CEI, UNI) will be advantageous.
  • Proactive attitude and results-oriented mindset.
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills and willingness to integrate in an international research team.
  • A good knowledge of English or ability to attain this is desirable.

Position overview

Specific responsibilities of the job would include the following:

  • Design, of novel clinical protocols.
  • Interact with clinicians and patients.
  • Draft new product requirements.
  • Writing technical documentation of the device.
  • Writing documentation for the launch of clinical evaluation practices.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (mechanics, software and control).
