The research line “Human-Robot Interfaces and Physical Interaction” (HRI²), led by Dr. Arash Ajoudani, is active at the IIT Central Research Laboratories in Morego (Genova), the main premises of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT). HRI² laboratory investigates the modeling and analysis of the human physical interaction behavior as well as robot planning and control.
Following an agreement with the “Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria (DEIB)” of the “Politecnico di Milano”, HRI² is offering 1 PhD position at Politecnico di Milano Phd school of Bioengineering on the specific project “Artificial Intelligence for Effective Role Allocation and Control Sharing in Mixed Human-Robot Teams”. The PhD call is online and available at the Politecnico website for the additional calls of the 34th cycle.
Artificial Intelligence for Effective Role Allocation and Control Sharing in Mixed Human-Robot Teams
The main objective of this PhD theme is to enable scheduling and effective role-allocation in mixed multi-human-robot teams. Advanced machine learning and control techniques will build the foundations of the novel Role Allocation and Control Sharing framework. From one hand, the theme will focus on the development of control sharing in multi-robot collaborative systems. In addition, the AI-based adaptation of the multi-robot teams to human(s) in mixed teams will be conceptualised and formulated. This will enable autonomous coordination of collaborative mixed human-robot teams so that the task requirements and human needs are simultaneously addressed.
