In the last 20 years we have developed considerable expertise in applying noninvasive brain stimulation for enhancing brain functions in healthy subjects and in stroke patients. As a result, we have become leader in the use of brain stimulation techniques, including TMS and, more recently, direct current stimulation (tACS, tDCS and tRNS) coupled with behavioral training. Work in my research lab focuses on the study of cognitive functions in the healthy and the diseased brain. Thus. our innovative work might help identify how cognitive functions could be preserved using noninvasive current stimulation as therapeutic treatment. Our expertise is in the cognitive neuroscience of vision and perception but, more broadly, our work on the novel applied therapeutics using noninvasive brain stimulation is particularly relevant for the treatment of several degenerative and acquired neurological diseases.
