About

Arianna Traviglia is the Coordinator of the IIT Centre for Cultural Heritage Technology (CCHT@Ca'Foscari). Her research is placed at the intersection of information management and humanities and most of her work focuses on mediating the inclusion of digital technology within the study and management of cultural heritage.

Lecturer in Computing Applications to Archaeology and Cultural Heritage (since 2003) and in Computational Thinking (since 2016) at the University Ca’ Foscari, from 2006 to 2015 she held positions as Postdoctoral and Research Fellow at the University of Sydney and Macquarie University-Sydney. She re-entered European academia in 2015 as recipient of a H2020 Marie Curie Fellowship, held until 2018. She is part of the Executive Steering Committee of the International Computer Application and Quantitative Methods in Archaeology (CAA) association. She is also the co-Editor of the Journal of Computer Application in Archaeology (JCAA). She has chaired the 41st Computer Application and Quantitative Methods in Archaeology Conference (CAA2013 Perth Across space and time), co-organised the 2016 International Congress of Underwater Archaeology(IKUWA 6), the 2018 International Aerial Archaeology Group (AARG) conference, and chaired a number of sessions on digital applications to archaeology at major international conferences. She has also been member of several conferences organising and scientific committees on digital Cultural Heritage topics. She is a member of the Management Committee of the COST Action CA15201 'Archaeological practices and knowledge work in the digital environment (Arkwork)' and one of its Core Team Members.

Projects

NETwork and digital platform for Cultural Heritage Enhancing and Rebuilding - NETCHER (H2020 Grant Agreement n°822585). NETCHER aims at building an information network and a chart of good pratices at european scale by gathering a arge numbers of actors engaged in cultural heritage preservation. Funded by the 8th Framework Program of the European Union for Research and Innovation (Horizon 2020) it brings together a consortium of even European entities over a period of 2 years, each one responsible for a specific research theme and a professional network.
