I am interested in the "backstage" of musical interaction. What are the underlying mechanisms of joint music making? What sets music apart from other types of social interaction? How could people with atypical social characteristics benefit from musical interaction?

Inspired by these questions, in my PhD research, I study joint music making in children with autistic spectrum condition (ASC). By investigating interpersonal differences in a musical social context, we seek ways to elevate social skills or, alternatively, to shape environments that better accommodate children with ASC.
