About

Alex is a PhD student currently working on the project Dissecting the Role(s) of RNA in the Modulation of α-Synuclein Aggregates (SYNGA), which combines both wet-lab and computational approaches. This project seeks to explore the role of non-coding RNAs in the formation, growth, and morphology of α-synuclein aggregates, which are central to the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s, Lewy body dementia, and multiple system atrophy.

With a background in infectious diseases and biological sciences, gained during his time as a master's student at the University of Liverpool, Alex contributed to research on COVID-19 during the height of the pandemic. Now, Alex aims to expand his knowledge and understanding of both computational methods and organic chemistry in relation to treating neurodegenerative diseases.
