Paola Cecere earned her M.Sc. in "Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology" from the University of Bari. In 2013, she embarked on her research career at the Center for Biomolecular Nanotechnologies (CBN) of IIT in Lecce, where she began her PhD in "Materials Science, Structural Engineering, and Nanotechnologies" in 2014.
In 2015, she moved to the Central Research Labs of IIT in Genoa, completing her PhD and working as a postdoctoral researcher from 2017 to 2020. From 2021 to 2023, she served as the technical manager for MC Biotech srl, an innovative start-up in Sesto Calende (Lombardy), specializing in molecular diagnostics for human and veterinary applications.
Since May 2023, Paola has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Nanobiointeractions & Nanodiagnostics Labs at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in Genoa. Her research focuses on designing and developing colorimetric and fluorescence-based diagnostic strategies, utilizing enzymatic or target/signal isothermal amplification reactions (such as LAMP), for point-of-care applications in human health, wellness, food safety, and traceability.
