Elena Aggius-Vella was born in Genova in 1983. She studied at the Universitá degli Studi di Bologna. She received her master's degree in Psycholgy in 2012, under the supervision of Professor Giuseppe di Pellegrino and Andrea Serino. The same year, she won a schoolarship for a period of research abroad, she spent six months in University of York, under the supervision of Professor Jonathan Smallwood. In 2014, she begins to work in CIMEC (Rovereto) as research assistant. In 2015 she started her PhD program at IIT in the Unit for Visually impaired people (U-VIP) under the supervision of Dr. Monica Gori.
Her PhD program focuses on spatial cognition in blind and sighted people, paying particolar attention on the relationship between body and space representation.
